Our Services
Gearbox Repair Centre specialises in the repairs of gearboxes for large (heavy-duty) transportation vehicles such as trucks and buses. We supply quality refurbished Eaton/Fuller and original ZF gearboxes as well as differentials. Our knowledge of Mercedes, Fuller, ZF, Eaton, Volvo, Scania, MAN and Rockwell gearboxes is accompanied by a well stocked parts department. We import our parts from Italy, Spain, America, Brazil and Germany. We have a fully functional sales dept to assist with all your part requirements.
Our sister company SA Propshaft Services provides propshafts & propshaft repairs to all vehicles. We are also able to supply a range of clutches in the following brands: Sachs, Valeo, LUK and Covata.

Company Background
Gearbox Repair Centre (Pty) Ltd, was established in 1988, as a cc and later was registered as a (Pty) Ltd in 1995. Our head office is based in Cape Town and we have a vast distribution network which stretches throughout South Africa. Under the guidance of our Managing Director, Calvin Francois, the business has grown from strength to strength throughout the years.
The success of GRC has lead to further expansion in the establishment of our Joburg branch, Transmission Spare Parts Gauteng, Durban based, M&J Transmissions, Cape Town propshaft division – SA Propshaft Services as well as our newly established water bottling plant, Matjiesfontein Water, based in the Karoo.
In 2011, GRC built and completed it’s current home in Brackenfell, it is approx. 2400sqm in size. In 2014, we added an additional 500sqm to our current building, now at 2900sqm. It is now one of the largest workshops in the country.

GRC is 100% black owned and most of our staff compliment is made up of disadvantaged groups. We have more than 40 dedicated staff members of which 10 are black females. GRC is a certified BEE rated company and we continuously strive to better our rating year on year.

Gearbox Repair Centre (PTY) LTD is a family owned business, established initially close to 30 years ago by Calvin Francois who used his expertise, industry and product knowledge to build the company into the success it is today. His hands on approach, progressive leadership style and commitment to service quality ensures satisfied customers and a profitable business.
In recent years, his daughter has joined the directorship allowing the business to stay relevant and evolve with the addition of younger generations. Calvin’s son manages the workshop and has allowed the workshop to expand its skill to incorporate retarders etc. As MD, Calvin Francois is responsible for after sales service & parts, deals directly with his overseas suppliers, keeping stock levels, distribution of manual transmissions, automotive, commercial & industrial vehicles.
